Pictorial poetry
Roberto Silva's pictorial poetry employs geometric figures to build vibrant compositions. This is achieved not only by the combination of shapes but also by the way colors are used. The result, instead of being a mass of cold matter, is an artwork that reflects the artist's mind.
Viewing the ensemble produced by Silva leads to the realization that no type of art is better than others. One is confronted by an art imbued with sincerity and depth. These two traits stem from investigation and experimentation carried out for more than ten years.
Silva's art is sincere because it is grounded on the continuous search for an individual, differentiated language that does not ignore the masters of the past, particularly those doing art from a geometric perspective, but rather seeks to learn from them what is best for the construction of a language consisting of renewed, often surprising elements.
The depth of Silva's art comes from continuous exercising, which keeps him from stopping his aesthetic investigation and his search for visual manifestations of interest either in terms of materials or visual impact on the viewer.
The final outcome of his visual journey is a concrete, geometric style of painting that, paradoxical as it may seem at first, causes excitement as it brings to the fore the best in each individual—the creative capacity. In this sense, each of Silva's work presents the viewer with an interpretation challenge through the interplay of shapes, colors, and textures that enchant at the same time it hints at profoundly human enigmas and multiple, deep meanings.
